Mississippi Aquarium’s resident gopher tortoise, Andreas, has a new home!

Visitors to the Aquarium can observe Andreas motoring around the new habitat, basking in the morning sunshine, and partaking in her favorite pastime - digging burrows. Andreas has served as an ambassador for her species since the Aquarium opened in 2020, visiting schools and educating children across the state of Mississippi about gopher tortoises. She will continue to make appearances as an ambassador animal with the Aquarium’s education department but now all visitors to Mississippi Aquarium will have a chance to see her in a new habitat located near the dolphin habitat. Look closely, she may be spending time in her newly created burrows!
